The final quarter of 2020 showed noteworthy performance for the top five social networking applications on the iOS platform in Europe. With data sourced from Sensor Tower, we observed trends across downloads, revenue, and weekly active users, providing a clear picture of how these apps fared during this period.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with downloads rising from 709K to 1.4M by the end of the quarter. Revenue also saw a consistent increase, from $639K in the last week of September to $684K in the final week of December. The app's weekly active users, however, experienced a slight decline, dropping from 129M to 128M over the same period.

Telegram Messenger, despite generating no revenue, witnessed an increase in downloads, starting at 452K and peaking at 566K in late November before settling at 441K by the year's end. Weekly active users showcased growth, climbing from 29.8M to 31M during the quarter.

Facebook showed a healthy revenue trend, starting at $102K and reaching a high of $186K in the third week of December. Downloads saw a steady increase, beginning at 412K and achieving a peak of 652K in the third week of December. The weekly active users count for Facebook remained relatively stable, hovering around 111M to 112M throughout the quarter.

For Messenger, downloads started at 351K and saw a significant jump to 578K in the third week of December. The trend in weekly active users saw a rise from 55.3M to 57.7M before dipping slightly to 55.9M at the close of the quarter.

Discord - Chat, Talk & Hangout experienced a fluctuation in downloads, with an initial 323K downloads at the beginning of the quarter, reaching 396K by the end of October, and then a decrease to 338K by the end of December. Revenue for Discord presented a positive trend, starting at $90K and climbing to a high of $159K before closing at $151K. Weekly active users saw an overall increase from 8.6M to 10.3M, with a slight dip to 10M at the end of the quarter.
